December Review

The month of December was another great month for the WOT Mustang Club. This was going to be a relaxed month because of the Holidays but in the end we had 4 club related meets.
Our first meet was set up by FISNRULZ when he invited members to come out to Carolina Beach to take part in a Christmas Parade. On Dec 5th we had 9 cars show up at National Speed. From there we fought through traffic and made our way to Carolina Beach. But before we left National Speed, we had been asked to be in a spoof video clip made by National Speed called “my new Honda”. Check out the link in our WOT chat forum for video. This is a pretty funny video and we were happy to help out National Speed in making it. Back to the Christmas Parade, once we got to Carolina Beach, some members set up Christmas décor on their rides. The Parade got under way around 7:30 and had a lot of people involved. The Parade itself was great and there was a big turn out of spectators who really liked seeing and hearing our rides! After the Parade we all parked in a local shopping area and took some pictures. Shortly there after, we went to a local eatery just to hang out and have dinner.
The very next weekend on Dec 13th, the club had an official WOT meet at National Speed to support their Domestic Dyno Day. It was a huge day for National Speed and had a really great turn out. The weather was perfect, the cars were plentiful, and the food was free! The event itself included a couple of 800 hp cars and a 1000 hp Nova (full out race car) as well as raffles for prizes. In all, we showed up with 10 rides and 13 members. During the event we had a short club meet and went over  club related business affairs. After the Dyno Day we cruised up to USS North Carolina Battleship just for some fresh air and to hang out. Check out our photo album to see pictures of the Domestic Dyno Day.
The very next day was WOT track day at Coastal Plains Raceway.   Some or our members met up at Hardee’s before heading to the track. The weather for the track was perfect and the turn out was great. There was around 50-60 cars running including some trucks, bikes, and 1/8 mile cars. We never had an official count of WOT members but it was safe to say we had about 15 cars and about 18-20 members showed up. For some of our newbies it was their first time running the 1/4 mile. Hollywood and Terminator 03 made their first passes and let’s just say they are hooked!! For Glittle it wasn’t his first time down the 1/4 but his first time running at Coastal Plains.  For yours truly, my car went 13.8, but with the driver mod named Swervo! We also had the chance to welcome back So-Cal who has been MIA due to training in FL. FastOrange was back in action with a new 6spd in his Stang and after fixing some nitrous issues and was able to hit 11.6’s.   Overall we all had a lot of fun and it was great to see many of our members out there.
For our last get together, WOT surprised FastOrange with a going away dinner at Olive Garden! FastOrange will be deploying soon and so WOT wanted to have a dinner in his honor. Once again, a real nice turnout of members as we all sent our best wishes for a soon and safe return. FastOrange had no clue and looked pretty surprised by the whole occasion. On another note, WOT wants to thank Hollywood for his generous gesture in paying for the meals. It was very unexpected and was super kind of him. One other member I would like to mention is one of our newer members, Xsenergy, he too is deploying soon. I speak for WOT in saying both of you be safe and come home soon. WOT wants all our Military members to know that we really are grateful for the sacrifices that you all make.
To end this, ‘08 has been a pretty crazy year! WOT is well on it’s way to becoming a great local club for Eastern NC and looks to expand in the following years to come. I would like thank all of our members for being in this new club. We wouldn’t be anything without such a great set of guys and gals. I would also like to thank the administrators for their hard work especially Twinscrw and Fisnrulz who have been with the club since day one. Twinscrw works very had to push WOT out there and it shows with all the new guest who visit the site because of him. Fisnrulz, thanks for forum, if it wasn’t for the awesome site we wouldn’t be as far as we are without it as well as the business cards. Our newer administrators are busy working on the ‘09 year and we have a lot of plans coming up so be on the look out for a very exciting year to come. Our ’09 year schedule will be posted by Mid Jan. with such events as “Pinks All Out”, Super Stang Fest, and Mustang Week. Plus there will be trips to an Auto Expo in Raleigh, Tail of the Dragon and Roush Racing facility. Last, WOT Mustang Club would like to welcome Glittle75 and Terminator 03 to the family. We have close to 80 registered users and 35 full members in the little time we have been a club and still growing. Again I want to thank all our members for being apart of WOT Mustang Club and I cannot wait to see all of you in the ’09 year!
