|
|
would a 4.6 from a 99-04 fit in the engine bay of the 66? i would imagine so, would the ranny work, id probably need a custom driveshaft huh?
anyways, wht ive been thinking is to find a wrecked 99 and up stang, if i found a 05 and uo would be even better, and swap the engine and tranny into the 66, has anybody seen or read about a project like this? this way id probably just sell the v6 and use the 66 as a street strip ride. oh and one more question, since it doenst need to be emmisiions legal what would i do to get rid of all the smog crap and how much power could i unlock by doing that? _________________

| best bet if you use a 99 up 4.6 is gonna be to use it just the way it comes out.... but you have a ton of electrical issues now... imagine with a computer controlled efi engine..... I have seen articles in the past, its been done but it is a ton of work |

well if i did this i would redo all the wiring just get wiring harnesses from painless wiring, i would definately gut all the old wiring. too many headaches. i figured with a newer engine and tranny with more than 3 gears i could actually turnthis thing into a daily driver / strip car. _________________

If your serious about doing this let me know. I know of a shop in Leland that does alot of Custom hot rod work and Fabraction that may be able to help out in some areas of your build. _________________

i am serious about this. if my 2000 was a v8 i would use it as a donor and rip off the whole drivetrain nd stuff in the 66. however im just trying to get the wife on my side right now. cus if i do this conversion itll be a car i can keep forever you know. anywho first things first i got to reenlist and get me a bonus, if i ever get cleared from medical to run a pft, cft and whatever else is out there. _________________

| well i personally like the 5.0 cuz of the ease it is to work on and it has the same potential the 4.6 has if you do it right and just take your time |
