Okay I'm still new to modding and I want to know what do I have to do to have forged internals. I'm looking to do this because I want to one day achieve about 700hp with the twin turbo setup I'm looking to get from HP Performance. Any help is going to be greatly appreciated. _________________ '95 5.0 Vert

Also, can I use my stock block with these forged internals or would it be best to get an aluminum block? _________________ '95 5.0 Vert

You need a crank, rods, and pistons. Your block should be fine, but the teskid block is the strongest.

Which brand would you recommend for the build? _________________ '95 5.0 Vert

Manley or Mahle would be the Best...
Would be good to over 1000hp...
Running a stock block Forged Internals to about 1000hp would be fine...
Just remember that ARP bolts are your best friends in this kinda of application...
But the Steel sleeves in the Tek Sid will hold up over 1000hp pretty easy and be 85 pounds lighter...
I have never herd of a broken or bent factory crank for a GT...
And have herd of people running them up to 700hp with H-Beam Rods and Forged pistons...
In the stock Blocks the weak links are the rods and pistons... _________________ 07 Dodge Ram 4x4

700hp with twins? Easy, making it streetable/raceable are two different things, 01 is right look into Manley and Mahle, the bottom end out of the 03-04 cobras are stock forged internals, keep your eyes peeled for those. Just price around, it maybe cheaper to by a rotating asseymbley my spelling is off, whatever. MPH, Fastlane and Blake could all help you out with those. _________________

Cool deal. Imma go ahead and get the crank rods and pistons. Is there anything in specific that I'm looking for as far as compression or anything special about these parts that I need to consider with doing a turbo build? _________________ '95 5.0 Vert

on mine I'm using a cobra crank, Manley rods and pistons. A better choice for pistons would be Diamond, but all these name brand parts will be more then capable of supporting big power.

I updated my last post above, but Diamond are good, make sure you get domed pistons, don't want too much internal compression running twins. _________________

Cool thanks guys. Can you explain the rotating assembly that you speak of Joey? _________________ '95 5.0 Vert

If your gonna stay with the stock block I'd say use your factory crank and keep your hp in the low to mid 600's. No sense in putting a forged crank in a block that can't handle the abuse. For compression I'd stay between high 8's and low 9's.

8.5 to 9.0 Comp...
This would be best for Turbos or SC...
By Sean Hyland Motor Sports book the Manley H-beam rods will support levels of 700hp at 7000rpm/602 Grams...
The Pro Series I-Beam rod can handle 1200hp at 9500 rpm/602 Grams...
I have this book and it show lots more Info then on the Net...

With that kind of power you need to be concerned about that AOD, rearend, and all of those rubber bushed suspension components too. _________________

Domed? you mean dished.
In my Shortblock I used a W.A.P. Block, a Kellogg 4340 Crankshaft, Eagle h-beams and Diamond Forged -5cc dish piston. Go ahead and splurge and buy ARP Main, and Head Studs and use either Cometic or Fel-pro MLS head gaskets. Be sure to use good quailty rings and bearings as well. My Compression with 01 Cobra heads, Fel-Pro MLS gaskets, and the -5cc dish pistons is @ 9.9:1 with the block zero decked. Basically 10:1.
Also don't foget that ALL head, main and side bolts are Torque to yield bolts meaning they cannot be re-used. If you use a Teksid block they don't have side bolts they have what they call jack screws that are actually threaded into the sides of the main caps. These ARE re-useable.
I think that the 03/04 Cobra's used a -16cc dish pistons and the 03/04 cobra heads had a slightly larger combustion chamber as well.
Be sure to put a good quailty hi-volume oil pump in as well. Good oiling is one of these Modular Motors best friends. _________________ 1990 Light Crystal Blue Notch

The Tek Sid block does have side bolts that go through the center of the jack bolts to lock them...
