So I am not sure if my TOB is going out or not. But at idle there is a sqeaking noise. When I push the clutch in it goes away. I have read up on other forums and have found a couple of solutions. One is that low trans fluid which I have never checked and have to break out the good ol Haynes Manual book to do so. Second, my clutch quad is worn out and I may need a adustable one. Last the TOB is actually going bad. If it is I might be racing for awhile. I don't have that kinda cash right now for a new clutch and bearing. _________________

Don't need a Haynes to check your fluid.
Get under the car and on the driver's side of the tranny there should be a plug that either a 3/8" or 1/2" ratchet goes into without any sockets or anything. Remove it and the fluid should be even with the hole, or as you add, add until it starts to run out.
If it's a cable and quadrant you need let me know.
Later on when you need a clutch and throwout bearing let me know on that as well. Trying to get everyone the best prices I can so...
For everyone else who reads this, if I give you a quote and you are getting it cheaper somewhere else let me know, most of the time I give a quote and never hear again from them. I'm not making any money off this stuff I get you guys, Thanks. _________________ www.D3RACING.com

(This is all GENERAL, and not set in stone)
Generally with a throw out bearing, if you apply a small amount of pressure to the clutch pedal, the noise will go away.
If your transmission has an internal bearing making noise; usually you have to fully engage the clutch to make it go away.
The transmission in my Cobra has a bad front bearing that is making noise. Whenever I replace the 10 spline input shaft, I'm going to replace that bearing at the same time.
LoL, I've honestly seen squeaking throw out bearings last tens of thousands of miles with a lot of racing. Most of the time they don't fail...they just get louder. |

Brand new TOB will make noise some times...
You might just have clutch dust all caked up in it...
take off the fork cover then spray some WD-40 at it and see if that will clean it off some...
And what Heater said X2... _________________ 07 Dodge Ram 4x4

What about if you have no noise at idle with your foot off the clutch pedal, but as soon as you lay your foot on the clutch pedal, and barely move it, it starts a squeaking/light squeal noise( it's not very loud at all, but just noticeable from inside the car), but it quits as soon as you release the clutch pedal. But every time you touch the clutch pedal it makes that noise. I thought my noise was the TOB. But if the noise should go away when you press the clutch, then maybe my noise is not my TOB?? I was planning to replace my clutch, pressure plate and TOB but just haven't gotten one yet.
D3Racing, what can you get me a FRPP King Cobra or a Spec stage 1 in an 11" set-up with 10 spline for?
Also I haven't sprayed any WD-40 or the like on my TOB as I didn't really know if it would hurt to do so, as the clutch disc may get some on it?? Is it OK to spray them? I don't mean saturate them, but just spray some on them.
Sorry Chris,
I didn't mean to hijack your thread. _________________ 1990 Light Crystal Blue Notch

Not sure I can get the Ford part, UPR carries some King Cobra clutch's but they are all 10.5" set-ups, I have emailed Lethal for a quote on the Spec, it'll be Monday or so before I get a price. _________________ www.D3RACING.com

Ok cool, do you mind e-mailing them back and getting a price on the Spec Stage 2's as well. Thanks! _________________ 1990 Light Crystal Blue Notch

So, when I apply very little pressure the noise goes away. So I should be okay to run it? What about the clutch quad, should I look into that first? _________________

Yeah, you should be ok to run it.
I would definetly do a Quadrant and an adjustable cable if your changing to a new clutch, but those are things that are easy to do and can be done before you swap clutches. |

So, I have noticed not only the "squeaking" TOB but just a faint sound coming from the trans. Hard explain what it sounds like but I notice at idle the other day and it had me concerned. So I took it to a transmission shop that I service and had them listen to it. They told me it sound like the input shaft bearing is going. I notice on the way home that the drivetrain noise seems to be getting louder so the car is going to be parked for awhile. Right now I am waiting for the owner of Probuilt Trans to get back in so I can talk to him about price to replace it (input bearing and might as well have them install the clutch too). I am also wonder about dumping the whole thing and getting a 3650. I understand that the t5/t45 are weak in the first place but is there any rebuild kits that beef them up or am I better off with t3650 or even T56? Oh, and forget about me getting a Termi, if I going to invest into a new trans then I am keep the bitch and going back to my orginal plan.....bad ass 2v! _________________
