I just priced a clutch setup for a 2010 GT500 and its a little cheaper then the Mcleod RXT I was planning on. I really like OEM stuff so I'm leaning towards that. The Mcleod is a 1000hp clutch with great driveablity and of course the GT500 clutch which probably won't hold 1000hp, but will work flawlessly. Ryan ruined his trans twice cause of an incorrectly disengaging clutch and he isn't the first. I'm trying to avoid shimming my slave period so I won't have any of these problems. Thoughts???

whats the oem gt500 clutch good for as far as hp goes. and if it can hold the power u plan on putting down, how long will it last? just asking... idk. if it will last u a good long while and take the risk of the clutch not engaging correctly and causing problems, then i say oem gt500 for sure

I don't know what its good for or how long it will last at my HP goals. I do know there are some very fast GT500's running the stock clutch and they just made it stronger for the 2010's. I wanna say you don't have to worry about them until after 650rwhp which I'll be lucky if my little 2.3l whipple can get there.

I can't find anything bad about the GT500 clutch except for the early ones that had flywheel problems. One guy was running 750 hp and it took everything they could throw at it. I would hate to buy the OEM clutch and it gives out in a year.

Yeah anytime I feel like the OEM stuff will hold up I'll pick that over aftermarket. The only problem is I'm not 100% sure the GT500 clutch is gonna hold up like the Mcleod RXT. If I knew for sure the OEM would handle the power and drag strip launches it would be the only clutch I was thinking of.

I love OEM stuff.

I made 501 rwhp with a King Cobra clutch and beat the snot out of it with Zero problems.

What did Ryan put back in his car?

This kinda sucks I've been doing more searching and looks like the OEM clutch is a bad idea for my future power levels. Some of the OEM clutches are giving out at 560rwhp. Gonna do more research on this, but now I'm leaning towards the RXT.

i would say it just depends on what kind of numbers your going to be putting out and if its over the 600 mark i would go with the RXT

this is the only thing I could find on the OEM clutch, i'm sure you have read it too...

"The twin-disc clutch on the six-speed manual transmission has been significantly upgraded, improving drivability and NVH. The discs on the 2010 Shelby GT500 are larger – 250 mm in diameter compared with 215 mm in diameter on the outgoing model – and made of copper and fiberglass to make them more robust.

A unique component of the twin-disc system is the control of the intermediate disc. Rather than floating, it instead has six straps that control the engagement of the clutch, improving drivability."

RXT, just cause I have hear good things about them on other forums. Your plans are to go big so you shouldn't skimp on this.
