since my car has started smoking (only at idle) and i dont have the money to do my 393 build im gonna be switching out my blocks soon and if it still smokes after that im gonna be going back to the stock heads

If your pulling the engine anyways why not just refresh it with main bearing, rod bearings, and rings? Then put new seals in the heads.

i reckon i could freshen the old block before i put it in.... i might have some head work done while i have them out it depends on prices....

Just change out the valve seals to by more time to you get the 393 done...
If It were rings you would be burning a lot of oil and loosing compression...
If you are loosing Oil and compression freshen it up with Bearings,Rings Seals...

got the intakes off and popped the valve covers off all looks good in that area to me... will be taking the heads off in a while and seeing what lies in wait

i might have something different to put in if the deal works out but yea if the dealfalls thru im gonna refreshen everything and see where im at... got a old motor i can throw back in while i get the work done

so i found my squeling problem as well my teeth on the harmonic balancer is loose and rubbing on my timing cover.... grrr.... dont know how that happened but i can wiggle it with my fingers and move it around

word of advice, if it is on or near the balancer or crank, leave it there.
