I have heard of a couple instances where the true tracs have went bad, but they are designed for a dual purpose street/strip application, not to be beat on consistently hard at the drag strip.
As for the Ford Racing one, I would say that one is worse than the stock LSD for one wheel peels and inconsistent launches with M/T ET street radials.
Not an attack, just my opinion. I have never run the true trac but plan on buying one in a couple of weeks to build my 8.8. I have run the FRPP one and did not like it.

I bought the factory style 31spline FRPP Diff and the clutches gave up the first time i went to the track...
The left tire would break loose every time with a loud squeal...
I restacked the clutches and have never had a problem since...
Hit the line lock and burn them down...LOL!!!
My cousin has a Auburn PRO locker and he beats the HELL out of it constantly and It has held up for about 5 Years and still going...
And I have a friend with a FRPP LSD behind a 396 stroker (5 speed)and he pulls the tires about a foot every time he leaves and runs 10's with no problem...
On RWHP not long ago some one was talking about how they granaded there True Trac cant find the link though...
The Auburn has about the best track record though from my point of view...
But most Diff problems come from the ring and pinion not being set up right...
The pinion pushing pressure on the Diff kinda like a sideways bind...
Good luck... Very Happy
