"My car is a 1999 Ultra White Clearcoat SVT Cobra, born 03/99. My first car was a 95 mustang v6.It had around 150k on the clock when I spun a bearing and sold it as is. I then began my search for a new car. I knew I wanted an upgrade from the v6, but didn’t just want a GT either. I was in the market for a Bullitt, Cobra, or a Mach1. My budget however wasn’t very high so the search rolled on until my dad told me about a guy that he worked with selling his 99 Cobra. He hadn’t told me about it originally because he was debating if he should trust me with the power that comes along with a Cobra lol. I went and test drove the Cobra and had a blast and knew I wanted it then and there. I purchased my 99 Cobra for just $5,500 in the summer of 2007. She had around 150k on her and came with a Flowmaster exhaust, Bassani x pipe, Pro 5.0 shifter. My first purchase for the Cobra was a JLT true cold air intake (since switched to a JLT ram air intake); I wanted the best for my new baby. After this the mods just started to come along. I set my stance with Eibach sportline springs up front and pro-kit springs in the back (my mufflers couldn’t handle the sportline rears). Along with them I threw on some polyurethane isolators and MM caster camber plates. I switched my shifter to the MGW shifter (butter, nothing else compares). Got some 3:73 gears installed by National Speed (my only mod not done myself). Got a BilletFlow IRS brace to help out my IRS. Threw on a Stewart Components high flow water pump, Reische performance thermostat, Mishimoto aluminum radiator, and Steeda underdrive pullies. Changed up my exhaust with a different Flowmaster cat back setup, and MAC long tubes and prochamber. Switched up the clutch with a 03/04 Cobra clutch and flywheel and threw on the Steeda adjustable clutch cable, double hook quadrant, and firewall adjuster. I then topped all this off with an SCT handheld tuner for the time being. I began to have fun with the looks of my Cobra by purchasing 03/04 Cobra side scoops and rear bumper, 8” shorty antenna, some black accents around the car (bumper inserts, front bumper vinyl, tinted lights/reflectors, etc), Autometer gauges, and some ultra white LEDs in the dash.
This past year I finally spun a bearing in the Cobra at 180k on the clock and found a 01 Cobra engine off a salvage car to swap. Me and my dad swapped the engine in a day and ever since it’s been running great. I recently purchased a Procharger P1SC kit with a 10psi pulley and a 3core intercooler, 39# injectors, a Ford GT fuel pump, and a ¾” intake spacer that are waiting to be installed. I could also be getting a fully built 01 Cobra engine, but that has yet to be figured out. I hope you all enjoyed my history behind my pride and joy and I hope to see you all more often now that I just graduated from East Carolina!"
Swervo:
Back in the fall of '05, I had a Mineral Grey GT which I was happy with until I saw a Mach 1 at one of the dealerships. So I decided to take it for a test drive and could not believe how much more fun it was to drive! So I went on a look out for a Mach 1 immediately and found my black '04.
I started with the usual bolt on's, exhaust, intake, gears and springs. I also wanted to make my Mach more unique by adding an 03 cobra rear wing, side skirts and an 01 cobra bumper with black 18" bullitts.
That look lasted for a while until I had some money in the bank and found an awesome deal on an HP twin 57mm turbo kit. The kit was down in GA at the infamous Modular Power house. So I bought the kit and made the 7hr trip to Atlanta and dropped the Mach off into they're capable hands. When I picked her up, she was pushing 460hp and 479tq with 7psi and a safe tune. She felt like a whole different car and could not stop getting into boost every chance I got.
A few years later in the spring of '10, I got tired of my turbos and decided to change directions with the Mach. So I removed the turbo kit and installed a set of ARH Longtube headers, catted x-pipe and a Bassani catback. That's how she sits now, waiting until I can save up some money to throw a Whipple or Kennebell supercharger into her. _________________
