Ok, help me out here...am I crazy in thinking that if I pay close to a grand for a carbon fiber hood, that it should arrive with little to no imperfections since its designed not to be painted? My hood arrived today and it had scratches around the hood scoops and white pock mark imperfections all along the edges of the hood. Ended up refusing delivery and sending it back. The rep I spoke with didn't sound very happy that I refused it and basically told me to re-order the hood in fiberglass and paint it to match or order from somewhere else. I mean really, are ugly ass obvious imperfections expected on a cf hood? I didn't think so but maybe I'm expecting too much.

So here's what it comes down to. Should I:

1) try to re-order the hood in cf and hope I get one that is better?

2) order the hood in fiberglass and paint it to match?
If so, do you guys know a good place around here to get it painted and the price.
range I would be looking at?

3) not do business witth this company anymore and find a better place to order a hood from?

I'm looking for a hood similar to the GT-R hood: agressive looking w/ raised cowl look, and hood scoops with working forced induction. (Unless you guys have a better suggestion). I don't know, maybe Fastlane has hoods?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

I am no body guy but I know from talking to Jeff on here that nothing including Carbon fiber comes ready to bolt on. Most hoods require some kinda of prep work before they can be installed. Not sure if I am right but I am sure Jeff will buzz in.

$1000 for a hood............ Yes it should be perfect, but your expecting too much. Even the best aftermarket companies don't compete with OEM quality. If I ever purchased a carbon fiber part it would get shot with a couple coats of clear coat before it went on the car cause the gel coat on those parts don't hold up over time. This would have fixed any scratches as well.

Damn now I'm wondering if the hood would have looked fine with clearcoat on it. Huh, maybe I will just re-order in fiberglass and have it painted. Still exploring my options.

BLaCK06V6: I'm usually parked in front of Dennys Pizza, right across from the church, about a block down the street from the police department
