|
|
So I have been forum hopping to in seach of knowledge for my termi. My overall goal is to hit 500rwhp on the stock eaton. But I would like to try to do it without nitrous first (eatons respond to them well I hear). Jeff will most likely get there before I do. I found this thread on this very subject and figured I would post it up for him to look at. I am going to try to get there with 2 more psi of boost (lower pulley), LT's, throttle body, plentium and a agressive tune. If I can't hit that mark, then talk to jeff about porting the eaton. Nitrous as a last option. I really don't want to get into cams and porting the heads if I can help it. If I do that I might as well get KB or whipple and call it a day. Anybody have experience with Meth and H2O injection (snow kit)? Just another idea.

And just FYI none of this is anytime soon. You will see me working on the suspension and beefin' up the rearend first. _________________

If you find a way to get more out of a unported Eaton than I got let me know, longtubes would probably get me to the 500 number, just didn't have the cash when I did the k-member, I tried spinning the blower harder with a 4lb lower but the tuner didn't want to touch it with the IATs he was seeeing so we went back to the 2lb lower. You have seen my specs and it made 478/530 corrected and ran 11.98 with a crappy 60-ft @ 120 mph _________________ www.D3RACING.com

when you do lt's throw on some poly motor mounts. better to do it when the engine is out than pulling the engine again when the shitty factory ones are splitting in half... _________________

Based on what I read in this thread (svtperformance) 500rwhp is achievable and alittle more. Going to do some more research and see what else I can come up with. _________________

i would personally do everything right the first time, that way you would never have to rip into the engine again. So when you got into the motor, why not do ported heads and cams? you will get to the point where that will be necessary. Unless 500rwhp is all you will ever want. I just couldn't be satisfied with that number knowing that you can pull way more out of that motor than that. I don't know how to say enough is enough though...dumb hp mind set i have _________________

I see your point but this is still going to be my DD for the most part. I will of course take her to the track where I just would be fine in the mid 11's. Once you start getting into 600 or 700 rwhp stuff starts breaking, drivablility can be a issue (unless you have a really good tunner) . That kinda power requires supportting mods to other areas of the car to hold up. I really am trying to stay content with having a nice termi with good streetable power. If I get another stang down the road then I will decide weather or not I want to make the termi a full track car. then of course ported heads and a TS will be the next step......or turbo! _________________

I had exhuast, cai, and 2.76 upper and I was right at 500 rwhp with my 03. but it was kind of a freak. most of the time you have to port the blower to reach the 500. but its pretty easy with the 03/04. good luck and you will enjoy the new power, but soon will want more! _________________

I didn't see anyone in that thread making 500 on a stock Eaton and stock cams, Posi Ports have been known to make 550/550 and he has refined his ports for a couple years now, pretty much have the Eaton maxed out. _________________ www.D3RACING.com

Be careful of tuners that are getting more power out of these cars than others.
Generally that means their tunes are more on the ragged edge. |

^^^I agree that 500rwhp is for my "street" tune goal and if I can have a "race" tune for the track that is a plus but not to worried about that. _________________

| I wouldn't worry about it it's just a number for bragging rights. 15-30hp sometimes even more are common differences between dynos. Even DA plays a role in how much power you put down on the dyno. Get some real braggin rights and run mid 11's with a stock eaton............ That's real performance and hard core proof of big HP numbers. |

That is all I want out of this car for now. I think it can be done now with MT's and a cool day. Alot of practice and not breaking the rearend and she might do it. But with my driving skillz I would be happy to get high 11's out if it now. _________________

I happened to come across an article in a Race Pages from this summer on a woman and her Terminator who ran sub 11.49 on her unported Eaton set-up, the car had made something like 477 to the tires. It was an article on how to update to sub-11.49 NHRA regs but lists a little about what she had done and what she was doing to get it into the 10's on the Eaton with no spray. _________________ www.D3RACING.com
