Hell no, go with 4.10's. It could be a short somewhere. how many miles are on it?

sounds like a short.

If you do gears, go ahead and swap that 7.5 rear end for an 8.8 out of a GT. 6Stang99 had Motive 3.90s in his sixxer i think and i never heard him complaign about them.

this is why i cant do 410s!!

Also if you have an automatic transmission this will cause your shift points to be incorrect and could cause some serious problems that could lead to transmission damage.

You can most definately do 4.10's. As a matter of fact, if you're staying N/A why not go 4.30's? lol. Don't fear the gear. The usual saying is, "3.73 in a manual and 4.10s in an auto." Atleast that's what people will tell you on most V6 sites you might visit. Try 3.8mustang.com or v6power.net. Two great resources for sixxers.

And also, if you plan on making some good power you might want to consider swapping in an 8.8" out of a GT like Superdan suggested. You could find an 8.8 with steeper gears already installe din it for the same price it would cost to buy gears and have someone install them. Plus the bonus of getting a T-lok and putting the power to both rear wheels.

If you hold the key in the crank position, how long does it take to start? If you hear nothing, I agree it could be a short, but also you may have a bad starter solenoid. The starter may be good but the solenoid may need to be replaced. If the car has 80k miles on it, I can almost bet that's the problem.
