|
|
So Friday morning I go into Jville to take care of couple of things for the day. At 9 am I am driving on Bell Fork rd, which I drove on that road a million times when I lived in Jville, the speed limit is 35 and that is exactly the speed I drive on that road just because of all the Cops that cruise there. Well sure enough I see cop pull out ahead of me onto Bell Fork, so I check my speedo and I am going 35 like I should be. Well he pulls into the parking lot and I assume he is going to set up to watch traffic. I look at my speedo again and stiill 35 MPH. I drive pass him thinking okay no reason to worry. Well he pull out and gets behind me and turn on the magical blue lights!!! So I am like okay WTF......mabe my tint is the only reason he would stop me? So he comes up introduces himself and ask me the usually dumb question? "Do you know why I pulled you?" I said "no sir." "Well you was doing 36 in a 25.......you didn't notice the flash lights for the school zone?" Right away I was thinking why the fuck are the lights flashing at 9 am aren't the freaking kids in school by now? "I said no sir, I saw you pull out and so I just double checked my speed to make sure i was doing the RIGHT thing and so I guess never noticed the lights" So he ask me for my licence and I thought to myself he is going to give me a warning........guess again he gives me a Fucking ticket. You don't know how pissed I was, I wanted to go off so bad and the worst part is I didn't even try to ask for him to let me off with a warning......mainly because I was so shocked he gave me the ticket in the first place. I should have argued some with him do to the fact is was so late in the morning and that I was doing the normal posted speed and that I always do the normal posted speed in town, that I am the prez of a club that doesn't support street racing, a club that does charity event for the community, a club that goes to track to race instead of streets. So after that I go and take care of only one thing of many things I need to do in Jville and instead of taking care of my other business I end up going to down town to see I could talk to the Assistant DA or DA to see if they can help me out. No luck, I can't see him until court date, that is what the secretary tells me. So I call up a good buddy of mine who has alot of pull in the Jville area and ask him who I need to talk to and he gives me the name of a lawyer. So I go and see this lawyer and he is going to try to get it dropped or worst case a reduced to improper equipment volation. I even stopped and talked to a sheriff and he agreed it was alittle bit of a bs ticket but also said that is what JPD's job is. So I guess fighting crime isn't important but handing out bs tickets is? I wasted my time going to Jville and didn't even get what I need done all because of this one ticket!! _________________

| Sucks dude! We have JPD set up behind our shop all the time in the 25MPH zone and they pull people over left and right one right after the other. And while they're pulling over people doing 35 in a 25 there's guys flying down 17 or racing right in front of the shop. Jacksonville has their priorities f'd up. |

Man I really hate bad mouthing any cops because I respect the job they do but sometimes they need to cut some slack in certain cases. I was clearly trying to do the "normal posted speed limit". It wasn't like I was going 10 over at 45 mph which alot of assholes do on that road. _________________

Sucks man! I have had 9 speeding tickets in 7 years, and all have been reduced to IE or thrown out. Chances are, yours will be reduced to less than 9 MPH over and considered IE. No worries. _________________ 13.03@104.9 mph. ARH LT's, MAC O/R Prochamber, FRPP 4.10's Moroso Spiral Flows, GT500 STB. |

| They have been cracking down on speeders in school zones for a while now. If I recall the flashing lights mean that the school zone speed limit is in effect. Cause you never know if school will get out early. If you was a parent with a child in school, you would not want traffic going by the school 10 plus over the posted speed limit. Sorry Chris, but I have been a parent and I side with the law. |

I understand that it was infect for the protection of the school kids but at 9 am? That is my major beef plus that fact that I really was more or less distracted by him pull out in front of me so I just didn't see the flashing lights. _________________

| I hear you. But like I said, as a parent you never know when school may get out early, busted pipes, storms, bomb scares. You are lucky it had a flashing light. Some times there is just a sign and no lights. |
