I thought that school zone speed limits were during school hours no matter if it was 9am or 2pm, Thats the way they are up here anyway...i can see the argument of both sides in this case

i think its different everywhere. I know in this area if the lights are flashing in a school zone even if there is no school you have to obey the laws

In Wilmington, the school zone MPH applies from 8-10am and 2-4pm.

my mother-inlaw got pulled a few years ago in a school zone for speeding and there was no school that day. after she finally got him to understand, he looked at the school and no one was there, he told her to slow down and have a nice day. so it may be the officers mood... who knows.

Sucks but when you enter a school zone as we all know at anytime there can be a kid running around...
I have seen kids run out in the road at Wrightsboro school on Castle Hayne Road...

When I was 8 years old i was run over by a car in a cross walk going to school in the morning before they put lights on the signs...
A drunk hit me down the road(60ft) then run over me at the other end of the circle drive...(Blunt Elm on Princes Place Dr)
If the Fire Dept was further away they said I would have Died...

Pitbull has some good points on this subject...

It will at the least get reduced, if not thrown out. For some reason JPD doesn't like dealing with lawyers when it comes to traffic violations. Well if I can get " Fleeing the scene of the crime " thrown out of court by my own power without a lawyer than you can definitley get this thrown out with a lawyer lol.

I got pulled over by a crossing guard one day while only doing 30 on that same road. Dude jumped out in front of car waving his sign like a mad man. I literally almost ran the guy over. After I stop he came to the side of the car and was trying to yell at me for speeding with kids in the area. I looked around and only saw him and his chair... So, needless to say, I decided to be an asshole and dumped the clutch and sped off up to 27mph and coasted past the overpass and then continued about my way. Smile
