That is an interesting read, lots of questions posed and not many answers, he is also at 19#'s, and the last time I talked to FastLane they won't do above 18# on 93 Octane.
My buddy ran a 2.6 but it made 18.8 #'s and he ran Torco just to be safe and it made 620.
Just want to be able to run straight 93 when I do mine then do the big boost tune later after the whole fuel system is up to snuff. _________________ www.D3RACING.com

Yea, the eaton swap is what got me going for the KB, its a lot of nickel and dime stuff that added up in the long run...I have the KB and the Whipple and honestly the Whipple to me feels more torquey down low, but i like the KB better for driveability, now this could be because of the weight difference and gear options i have in the truck and car. I can say idk if i need to degree my cams or something but i am dissapointed in the TQ numbers my KB put down. However i have noticed that with all the other KB swaps on the Mach1s also. Tq moves weight, Hp keeps it moving...i would say look into the Whipple Tq numbers since its going to be a track based car...the KB may make more HP, but the Whipple may beat it down the track in Tq alone...just my .02 and i may not know what im talking about... _________________ [img][/img]

I think you should wait to decide after you take a spin in mine down the strip . After the research I've done on turbos, it'll be the only power adder I use from here on out. As far as the hellraiser, I wouldn't buy a kit that uses the stock manifolds since they choke exhaust velocity and don't transfer heat near as efficiently as tubular headers.
The cheaper route would be the twin screw though....would you leave the blower in place if you did go turbo? just curious |

I'm pretty sure that's what he would do Scott if he went that route. Jeff told me that if he was gonna go turbo that he was gonna compund boost it. _________________

| Yeah I'd keep the eaton on the car just because I'd have to hunt down the Mach 1 intake and serpetine belt setup. Probably more to it than that also. |

| In that case, I think it would be way too much work if you got the turbos. You'll also have three power adders to worry about vice one then too. When are you looking to do the upgrade? |

Not sure when I'm gonna do it that's why I named the thread chit chat. Me and another club member have a project we are working on that's not very cheap, but once that's out of the way I'm gonna be looking to do this.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be doing a Whipple 2.9L. 2011 is looking to be very interesting already. |

First off you can't go cheap when your going for horse power!!!
As compund boost goes hope you got like $8k on the side to build the motor. Bc when you see 20psi it's more like 30psi going into the intake bye bye motor.
If you going to do turbos your looking around 10-12k for everything. I know this bc I almost went down that road. But some of my friends that have tt and singles told me if they could do it all over they would just throw a bigger blower on it and be done with it.
To me the 2.3 whipple is a joke. My eaton cobra at 15psi makes what most 2.3 whipple cobras do at 18psi
Me personally love the way the kb sounds. If you order a 2.8 kb spend $300 more and get the LC. Hopefully at the end of this month I will be able to get my car tune and I will let you know what a 2.8lc mammoth makes at 18psi _________________

| At this point I'm pretty much sold on getting a 2.9L Whipple. I may get the KB, but will have to see how things go. As for the built engine I have that part covered. |
