So I haven't really done any major cleaning of my car yet and had planned on waxing this weekend but just didn't have the time. I think this weekend coming up I am going to spend a evening in the garage waxing it. Has any one used a buffer before? I am thinking of picking one up but am alittle worried of "burning" my paint. Should I just hand wax the car or will the buffer give me better results? I plan on only doing this only every 6 months to a year cause the car is in the garage out of the elements most times.

I had Burris paint correct my car back in October.

I didn't trust myself to buff my car; I'd be ultra peeved if I burnt the paint or got hung on a edge and took the paint off.

LMAO!!!

I've buffed a few cars before and it's super nerve racking. Dont think id ever care to do one again. The top isn't so bad, but wait till you get to the bottom and around lights and stuff.

For a newb, dont get a circular buffer, get a random orbit buffer like a porter cable or flex. http://autogeek.net/bupo.html

Well honestly I think I am just going to do it old school and hand wax it. Just not confident enought to use a buffer. Next time out (in the fall) I will do a clay bar and wax or take it to Buff Masters and have them do a full detail job. I plan on making a day out of it and do both the stangs mabe on Friday night and Saturday during the day.

clean isn't really the problem. In the sun you can see swirl marks in the paint. So I have some stuff specifically for swirl makes and follow it with a good wax.

I am tired!!!! Just spent 3-4 hrs waxing the car today. Didn't even do a crazy amount of detail just did a "quick" job to give it some shine. I have decided for now on paying someone else to do it end of story. Still can see swirl marks in the sunlight but alot better than it was. Back and elbow hurts right now Crying or Very sad

Waxing and washing isn't that painful when your earning your paycheck doing it!
