I bought an sct programer and plugged it in follwed all the instructions then after i was finished, naturally i wanted to take it for a spin. Much to my suprise it ran like crap and has ever since. It is driveable, but if i get on it and try to push the rpms past 3500 it boggs down. I took to majestic motorsports (never again). They ran diagnostics and ecerything checked out fine but they said they noticed the lag when test driving it as well. Any ideas? Or possibly someone who has had a similar problem

where did u get the proggrammer from? i got mine from american muscle and when i first plugged it in it ran like crap so i sent them a detailed list of everything i had done to the car and they sent me new tunes and told me to use a diferent ecu code next time i order tunes and my car has ran great since, so its more than likely just a bad tune.

I would load the stock tune in it for now and talk to the guys you got it from like rican said. Is a can tune from SCT or custom tune?

Start by installing your stock tune.

At 3500rpm your charge motion plates are supposed to open..... maybe you have some sort of mechanical or electrical failure. SCT programmers are known to blow fuses every now and then so I would start there since its the easiest place to start.

I tried to return it to stock. Still runs like crap. I've went through the fuses and they are good. All the diagnostics read good, it's a real pain in the a$$

What are you mods on the car and do you know if it was tunned prior?

I think your gonna have to pull the intake off and clean the cmcv (charge motion control valve) or imrc (intake mainifold runner control) is what they called them back then. They get carbon build up on them and won't open or close correctly. The actuator may not be working correctly which also could be the problem. Since your bog comes in at 3-3.5k I'm gonna assume this is your problem. You might want to look into the imrc delete also, but it requires a tune. It's hard to diagnose a car without actually seeing or driving it, but I'm pretty sure this is your problem. Good luck with the repair.

I thought cmcv's were a relatively new addition to mustangs! Will he be able to modify his existing cmcv plates like you can with 3V's?

Sure can. He can pull out the plates and use JB weld to finish off the holes to make the homemade plates just like the 3V's. FYI only 96-98 cobras had them. When Ford changed the head design in 99 they no longer felt they were needed.

i've only had it 2 months, put the cold air intake and it had not been tuned before. I'll try that though. Thanks for the advice!

I will be pulling mine this weekend to modify so I will no longer have the damn power lag ! I feel them open up around 3700 rpm and it's like the car comes alive! I will try to post up some pics and a rundown for those that are thinking of doing the same thing.

I was assuming I could just plug in my Livewire and select CMCV Deletes? If not, who would you suggest I get an e-mail tune for this? Sorry for the thread jack Trevors!
