mods on the new 5.0 gona be hard to get dealerships to honor your warranty, if you take it in for any type of problems u 5.0 guys are having, because if they find a modified part on there looks like your pretty much assed out of warranty. sux if thats true. they do have to prove that the modded part did it but most dealerships will not want to warranty the part.

Yeah this is a hot topic on s197 forums. Jeff can chime in here but has to do mainly with tuning, the number 8 cylinder and messing with the knock sensor.

There's still a way around this. For sure don't take your car in for warranty with any mods on the car cause it will be recorded. Basically if you take your car in for a bad window motor you better remove all engine mods and tune then drive for a period of time before taking it in. If you don't then it's all going to be recorded and when something goes wrong powertrain wise your gonna be SOL. Also you better not have any pics or videos on the net showing you racing or mods on your car cause Ford is looking for them.

i thought ford would still be able to tell if the car has been changed from a modified tune back to a stock tune because something about they have a tool to check the history of the computer. so if thats true then that is really bad for those who want to modify these new 11-12 5.0s no matter if u drive it around it will still be able to be detected from what i heard.

That's pretty much a load of bullshit right there. Why build such a beast if you don't want people to race it...? Wasn't the old motto back in the day of classic muscle, "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday"?

From how I understand it the computer doesn't record if it's been reflashed or not. It does store any problems with the car though and what the car was doing at the time of the problem. Doesn't matter anyhow though. If the aftermarket tune is right then nothing should happen to the engine right? This is Fords way of getting out of warranty coverage for bad tuners.

sounds like Ford dealers are doing anything and everything to hide underneath the table rather then help customers who spends thousands...understandable is a sense, but every situation dictates i guess

Ford is shelling out $6000 per engine because of bad tunes so I tend to agree with what they are doing. These engines are holding up to as much as 800rwhp with no piston damage so 440 should be cake if the tune is right. The only time I'll have an issue with this is when they reject a legitimate claim.

I can see how that would be expensive lol. I've already had issues with warranty work so I'm a bit bias

The clutch issues are related to tunes also. There was an issue with the early mustangs, but that's been addressed with new bolts.

For those that haven't read the new MM&FF when Ford was testing the GT clutch in the Boss the pressure plate was falling apart from the vibrations at 7500rpm. Also they were having issues with the pressure plate bolts backing out. They had to wire lock the bolts down to conduct testing. Sound familiar? Anyhow to fix the problem the Boss uses 9 bolts to hold the pressure plate in place.

still working out all the kinks in this car but still thats a shitty deal for owners to be cautious with what they do to their car bc of the possible void of the warranty
