Hey guys,

In light of recent events, I need to figure out how to get my car to hook. The car would hook fine at the track back when it was a pulley only car, but not anymore!

I'm currently running a set of old Nitto 555 D/R's on 17's. I would like to get a nice set of track only wheels/tires. What would be all of your recommendations for a wheel/tire combo, keeping in mind that I want them to be legal for street driving? I was thinking a pair of 99-04 GT wheels and some M/T streets...if you could give me an idea of what works and the sizes of wheels/tires that would be great.

Thanks,

Matt

Welcome to the site. I just ran a 1.66 60ft with the very same setup you just mentioned and I could have launched harder as the track was getting better and better tonight. Very good tire, but if you want a better tire that's DOT legal get the ET street bias ply. Mystic ran on them for the first time tonight and now he wants his own set.

1.66, wow that's moving. What did your ET end up being? Thanks for the info!

Mystichrome - What size wheel/tire were those bias ply's that you were using??

Wow, that's moving out. Did they give you a hard time about running that fast? They said something to me when I ran the 11.9...

Also, what size MT's are you running on those 8 inch wheels?

They told him he needed a bar to go faster than 11.9, but later came back and told him they ment to say 11.49 or over 125 mph. But a bar is all you need, which is just a 4 point cage.

Yeah they told me to put a cage in it. Tire size is 275/40/17.

That was on the stock Cobra rims Cool

Are you slipping the clutch or side stepping it?

Careful on those hard launches, real good way so snap a halfshaft in the rear. Jeff has an SRA , so he can launch the piss out of it. Do you have an SRA Heater?

I guess you've never seen the vid "Heater vs TTSaleen" at Draggin Rights Joey. But it still impresses me that Heaters car is as fast as it is cuz I think he's on 99% stock suspension.
