i have an 11 gt 5.0 with stock rims and tires. never been to the track and am wondering if anyone suggests changing them out before i go. or just see what it runs first?

You can run it with the stockers, but your just gonna blow them off at the line. Unless you launch really easy.

i would use stockers for awhile just to get the hang of everything.

Once you get a hang on things then try stepping up to some high performance street tires like the Nitto NT555s or a drag radial NT555Rs. Both are DOT approved so you can drive them on the street as well. Wouldn't recommend the NT555Rs for a daily driver application though. They tend to not have a long life span.

I wouldn't recomend either of those for track tires. Do you have a stick or auto?

6 speed. I'd hafta prob get different rims too. It's my daily driver.

Like Tiddies said get use to the car on stock tires. If you can get 12's they your know your driving pretty well. Your first time out will be 13's and will come down as you get use to the car. Once you feel comfortable with the car, get a set of Mickey Thompson's and burn up the track!!!

Not reqally. Just a CAI, SCT BAMA tuner (which i havent messed with much yet), straight exhaust. that's it pretty stock.
