Ponygurls car has now had the turbo on her car for about a year. In that years time the car has ran funky twice (a/f would go super rich and car felt sluggish and off). Both times ended up being the MAF censor needing to be cleaned off. My question, does anyone know if this is normal for aftermarket turbo kits? Could it be a bad turbo seal or oil off the filter? Driver side PCV is routed back behind the throttle body (just like stock) and the passenger side is filtered, so oil not coming from there. The oil drain line from the turbo is right at the bottom of the head unit and the line is pointed straight down and goes back into the front of the oil pan plus the car doesnt smoke like it is burning oil. So any other ideas? I dont think it is the turbo it self and hoping this is just a common thing for aftermarket turbo kits. It does have a no name filter on it that could not be doing the best job?

About a week ago I was coming down 17 behind her car...
And the fumes would knock you out from about 10 to 20+ feet...

might want to grab the air filter and see if its "oily" some of the aftermarket filters come with some type of oil on them. like the oil you put on a K&N after you clean it out. K&N as well tells you not to put to much or you will run into the same problems. MAFs are very sensitive, as im sure you guys know, if you cant feel anything on it, go grab some toilet paper and press it onto it, anything other than dry will show up real good on TP. that stuff will show you a small leak or something better than most wiping clothes will.

another check maybe, grab a white rag, or piece of thin cotton fabric of some sort, and zip tie it good to the filter, take the car for a drive and see if its dirty when you come back. if its nothing on the filter, you may have head unit prolems. but then again, im no turbo expert at all.

No, but it doesnt matter, the pcv is routed back in the intake well after the maf sensor. The other is filter.

Where's the MAF at on the car? Is it lower than where the pcv comes into the intake? Could oil be coming into the intake tube at the pcv intrance then seeping down onto the MAF when the cars off?

It is about 12 inches from throttle body and level with the pcv hose is routed which is back behind the throttle body. Which when the cat is turned off the blades on the tb are closed so any oil could not "leak" back into intake pipe

Are you oiling the filter frequently?

Some people oil and clean them every time they change their oil and that is way too frequent.
