Was doing my daily wish list write up and realized I have a 28 spline differential...

Was just wondering what kind of power you need to be making for it to be worth upgrading everything to a 31 spline or if there is even a point other than piece of mind. I thought I asked about this awhile back but couldnt find a thread.

Thanks!

Just so that you know, you will also need new axles with that 31 spline diff. I had a 31 spline AuburnPro Locker with Moser 31 spline axles. It really felt solid in my opinion.

Yea I kinda figured since the differential changed the axles would as well, was wondering if anyone knew when it was necessary.

Well I know that 31 splines are obviously better than 26 or whatever I have stock but is that an upgrade people do when they screw up the rear end or is it a high horsepower upgrade or what?

If you got to buy axles and a differential might as well do 33 spline if your going to do it. Doesn't cost but an extra 20-30 bucks and it will never go anywhere.

American Muscle has everything. And the v8 explorers has them stock, have heard of guys swapping to 31 spline parts from wrecked exploders.

Well if I can get a 33 spline for an extra $30 I am gonna go with that when the time comes. I am all about peace of mind and longevity.

there's less options for 33 spline. If I could do it all over I'd prob do 31 spline and a FRPP carrier with up graded clutches.
