Well, it's that time of year that everyone gets to once a year.... had to get the car "inspectable" lol. Couldn't find anywhere to slap a sticker on my car as is (although the only thing that would make it not pass is the O/R X and O2 sensors turned off) so I put the stock H-Pipe back on it this evening and a 93 octance race tune for it. Well, I hate it..... It's so quiet now and just blah.
Can't really tell a difference in power I don't think but the sound is just meh. Thinking about maybe one of these days getting a high flow X to see if I can get good sound while still staying legal and not having to go through the yearly nutroll. I need to find a good middle ground I guess or find someone to trade a stock H and O/R X for a high flow catted x lol. _________________

Well, I went to a "recommended" shop and they still pointed out that I had no cats (which he may be able to overlook if the sun was bright) and his lil handheld computer pointed out that my O2 sensors and sensor heaters were disabled. I even offered to pitch in a lil cash to pass and he didn't do it. If I could have found a shop to do it I'd have gladly done it vice crawling undereath that thing on jackstands and wiggle for an hour or 2 lol. _________________

Oh.... also, they didn't do like a smog check or anything, that's not required for NC I guess, it's limited to hooking the lil computer in to see if the stuff is enabled and visual inspection for the cats. Simple enough right? _________________

It goes by county in NC for how strict inspection is. _________________

| when i had no cats, you can get spark plug non-foulers on the rear 02 sensors and turn them on, then they will not throw a code. So far a visual, a hook up or a little cash and a direct approach will usually help. I had a hook up shop, but then they went under new management, and all that stopped. Went to another shop, parked, and watched who was doing inspections. Went up to him, explained I had no cats and pushed a 20 into his hand, new hook up shop. |

I'd have gladly gave $20 or probably even $40 to avoid having to crawl underneath my car in the driveway to swap out pipes. I'd drive it somewhere to a shop but it takes forever for the cats to cool off to get it swapped out. The tune I have on the car does away with any codes but it just turns the sensors off all together lol.
I wonder what kind of sound I would get out of a high flow X? With H it sounds like a sissy.... with O/R X it's louder than hell but I like it.... maybe a high flow X would give me that nice rumble and still be legal? I seen there is a 2 3/4 option out there from BBK with high flow cats... or I could just get me some high flow cats and murder my O/R pipe to put them on. _________________

High flow cats X, weld in flows. SLP longtubes. Also you have to realize that the factory cats are way restrictive, not to mention theres more than 2 of them. With a aftermarket catted X, there are only 2 cats, and they are way smaller than the factory ones. |

Yeah, I figured out (after hearing both) that the restrictive mid pipe was what is really quietening that thing down. I seen a much larger difference swapping mids than I did swapping axle backs, probably 5x the difference. I just didn't know how much of a difference i'd see between a high flow x and an O/R x, i'm sure the O/R has to be some louder but i'm ok toning it down just a little bit. I guess I just need to decide whether to buy a catted x or buy the cats and put on my UPR O/R pipe..... wonder how much of a pain that would be? _________________

| buy a catted x and then sell yours. theres always ppl wanting OR x's. Worth the quieter exhaust note, allbiet slightly quieter, to not have to go through the hassle come inspection time. Seems like everytime you get a hookup it only lasts one time then you gotta look for another one next time. |

Slightly quieter is fine by me since I live in a subdivision and start my car at 6:20 every morning lol..... thing is loud as hell with the O/R X on there while warming up. The BBK 2 3/4 one a good option? _________________

| is the rest of your setup 2 3/4? if so then yeah, if your catback is 2.5" then go with that. Me personally I like having 2.5" back factory size and works great. most of the time 3" is just to much. doesnt hurt, but not needed for the price vs. 2.5". |

No, the BBK one I seen is 2 3/4 and comes from the manifold and staight into the stock after mid. http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-catted-xpipe-0510gt.html I dunno, what's best? _________________
