I was in 2nd and hit 4500rpms when i heard a popping noise. Thankfully i was right down the road from my apt. Popped the hood and i found the coil pack was not seated because the screw that held it down had been blown away... The coil pack is.fine but.the arch on the spark plug was bent backwards. _________________ 99 Mustang GT SMR# 2070

Read a few things about it and it could be due to the aluminum threads failing. Recommends new cylinder heads _________________ 99 Mustang GT SMR# 2070

From what I have read and talked to service techs about the spark plugs blowing out; is to use a Time Sert (I think that's the name of it) thread repair kit. Supposedly it's designed specifically to hold spark plugs in the head.
I have had two to blow out on my Expedition; but have gotten lucky both times and it didn't damage the threads in the head. I just put a new spark plug in and replaced the coil both times.
Hopefully you will be just as lucky. |

I haven't tried to put it back in yet. I just assumed it was stripped but there's a pretty nice size chunk of porcelain still in there if it hasn't come out already _________________ 99 Mustang GT SMR# 2070

| By the looks of it your plug wasn't very tight. Looks like it was backing off then finally got down to the last few threads and then pop. You might be lucky enough to just put a new plug in its place. |

Sometime this week i will be removing the passenger cylinder head. i've looked up some stuff on how to do it and what needs to be removed but do you guys have any type of heads up or tips to make it a little easier as far as what should be removed first? _________________ 99 Mustang GT SMR# 2070
