I am just looking around for a short block and this is one that has my eye. Any suggestions on a short block or even a long block. I am also going procharger just to let you know. Also here is the heads and intake too.

livernois is great, and the have a greta reputation, but there are cheaper routes. I would look around a bit, because when you get a long or shortblock shipped, yea they come "Balanced" but its good to have them looked over when you get them too. i have seen shortblocks ordered from places, and freeze plugs were jammed in the water jackets when they arrived, with another plug in the hole!

and if you order things separate you can see the progress a little more, and not feel like your saving for a long time and seeing no results.

Also if your going to replace it all, think about stroking/bore while you got it all out.

And i would wait on heads until at least the summer so we can see what becomes of these new trick flow heads. if they are anywhere near whats advertised, they will be more than worth it.

my $.02

I spoke with Jordan and told him about the bad press that stang910 pointed out.... so IDK if he's going to check w/ livernois or stick w/ MMR...

Chris how about the aluminator. Justin Burcham uses the aluminator and holds the current record for fastest 3v (8.60's i believe). Just browsing through magazines you can get one for $4300 shipped. I'm sure Tousley Ford can beat that no problem (10% over cost). Thats a very fair price for what your getting. After I send my block off to the machine shop i'll have over $3500 in the shortblock alone and I'll still have to assemble it. If I actually sat down and calculated up everything I needed I would probably have an aluminator sitting on my engine stand instead of an empty block.

About the dart blocks, there's no need for aftermarket blocks anymore as the teskid and the 05+ blocks are good for over 1000 hp. Only a good rotating assembly is needed.

I thought about that route too, just hasn't been a proven block yet. But you do bring up a good point. I will have to do some more research and I am in no rush yet.

there is no reason to get an aftermarket block for the 4.6.

the 4.6L block has never been craked / windowed / or blown by High horsepower numbers.

If you grab a new stock GT block or a cobra aluminum block it will stand up to anything you throw at it.

thats why there is no aftermarket blocks for the 4.6, if you look at all the companies you are looking at to build your short/long block, they all use factory blocks.

And if you look at Eagle rotating assemblies, they have reasonable prices and ive never heard anything bad about them, from anyone.

When i build mine (years away) im going with a Teksid block, a kellogg crank, Manley H-Beams and some custom pistons. Stroked crank and rods, but no overbore.
