Well now that I am using the MT's should I look into upgrading to a 31 spline? I don't think I am making enough power to worry about it yet. The next time I get to the track I am going to try to lauch at a higher rpm to see if I can cut my 60 to a 1.6. I have been lauching at 2800-3000 rpm and hit 1.8 60. Do you thing the stock axles will handle a 3500-3800 lauch on a regular bases? Any advice would be great.

Well, alot of people say better be safe than sorry. But it ain't like I am running over 400 to the wheels. Even when I do the nitrous install, I don't think I will upgrade then. Has anyone here ever broken a axle and if so what kinda power was you puttin down?

Could you not use an Axle Brace for this?

Dave, when we refer to the axle, we are talking about the shaft inside the axle housing. The stock shafts are thick but can bend or twist under extreme condtions, even snap. Stock axle shafts are 28 spline. The next step up is 31 spline which is thicker and stronger. The brace you should is really great for keeping the tires planted to the ground but will not prevent the shafts from breaking inside the housing.

When you decide to run slicks you might what to upgrade. You will be fine but just to be safe.
