why is it i can only run mid grade in my car? when i run unleaded it spits and sputters. and when i take sharp turns with about a quarter of a tank she will bog down. may this be due to impurities in the tank? i changed the fuel filter a little while ago when i did my tune up. idk if any of you guys have ever had this problem. but i would like to get some insight on the issue. thank you

sometimes the screen filter going to the pumps can be clogged on the bottom, so when the tank is full its no big deal because its coming in through the top and less restrictive area of the filter, and as it gets down to where its clogged at the bottom with less fuel in it, its harder for the pickup to move the fuel to the pumps....never worked on a focus so idk what the internals are like, i have worked on other vehicles and had this issue however

Drop the tank (be sure there isn't that much fuel in it because it is freaking heavy) pull the fuel pump out to reveal the pump filter screen as 03Azure mentioned. Guaranteed it is disgustingly dirty. Good news is they only cost around $10.

try putting some HEET in it first. That will soak up the water that is probably in there since we had those cold days then when it got warm you"ll end up with condensation that can give you problems. I doubt it is the pump because grades of fuel wouldnt make it better or worse. When you turn you are sloshing all that crap in there (water, dirt)and its causing it to run like crap. I replace my fuel filters every other oil change (OCD maybe) but they are dirty everytime. The gas in this area isn't the best
