My buddy has a 2010 V6 that he's looking to start to mod. He's wanting to get some good cheap mods for now until he can get his finances straight. He's been thinking about doing his intake but has no idea on what he needs to do. I'm trying to help him out, but I don't know the sixxers that well. Any help is greatly appreciated. He's also just now telling me that he wants to his exhaust as well.

I have heard 6Stang99 say it too many times but a few mods is ok, but if he is really looking to get some serious power out of it, find something else...like the 2011 lol

tell him to get rid of the V6...waste of time. I'm sure others would agree, but a lot of money put into a V6 just to catch up to a stock V8 doesn't seem worth it to me. but this is just my opinion

SloLime saw some good gains on her 4.0L with just an intake, duel exhaust, and canned SCT tune. I think she went with the JLT intake and a GT take-off exhaust. At the dyno day her car made 210rwhp and 250rwtq, so i'd say those few mods would be worth it. But I wouldn't go any further if I were him unless he just really wanted to work on that car.

best bet is to save up 6k and do the x charger, duals, & 8.8, he will have roughly 285rwhp.

You see the new X-Charger X-treme Kit they have out now Josh? I guess it adds a nice intecooler and a lot of people were swapping to a smaller pulley putting out anywhere between 300 and 350ish rwhp. Depending on any other mods they have of course.

Yeah I am starting to rethink the whole v6 thing. I mean yeah its fun, however expensive. Just to catch up to a stock v8. May just wait until August or September time frame and get the v8 instead of dropping 6k in a s/c

you coulda just called me out and said recordbreaker the v6 hater...which I'm not. But if you want to go in the direction of building a performance mustang, I'm sure anyone would be happier with two additional cyl's. There is only so much you can do with the 6, and then still V8's with a few bolt on's are still gonna be pulling on ya. Now if your goal is to just put a lil pep in your step for you sixxer than I can understand. But if you plan to be competitive, I'm gonna have to agree to disagree.

yes, their downfall is the heads and the pistons. the rods are forged and the block will hold up to a bit more. the heads are swiss cheese heads with 12 coolant ports per head, they don't hold up for dick. Plus, you have to pull the engine to do a cam swap seeing as how the passenger side cam goes in from the rear. a ton of work.
