First off, I want to say it's hot and beautiful down here in Nicaragua. I'm heading off to Panama next.

So, after next payday I should have about $1000 to drop into my drivetrain. So far this is the list of parts I'm planning on getting..

Steeda Tri-ax Short Throw
3.73 Gears
Moser 31-Spline Axles

I want to get a better differential installed as well, but I'm not sure if I'm going to need one with the new axles or not. That and I'm also not sure on which one would be best for daily driving. Also, if I should get anything else for my drivetrain, please any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Also this is the newest picture that I have of my car. Hope you guys like it.

you'd be good with daily driving a LS...not sure or not, but I thought the new edge stangs came w/ a 28 spline diff. so you are probably going to have to get that too. Personally I would buy the diff and axles first. Save you a lil money of labor unless you plan to do it yourself

Like recordbreaker said if you want 31 spline axles you will need to upgrade your diff. If you want a good aftermarket diff that's street friendly get a tru trac. If stock is fine you can use one out of a S197, but upgrade to the carbon fiber clutches.

While your building your rearend, why not just go ahead and buy 33 spline alxels? there's not too big of a difference in prices. I've been talking to Blake and Bud Anderson myself about doing this. Send Blake a pm with what your thinking and he'll hook ya up.

33 is nice to have but unless he is making "big" power I doubt he will break 31 shafts.

Would the FRPP 31 Spline diff with carbon fiber discs on AmericanMuscle.com be a good diff to work with?

Depends what your wanting to do. If you want a stock replacement thats a little better then yes its perfect, but if you want to race with it regularly get a tru trac or a locker.

Okay, normally I would just use google, but these computers are so damn slow on this boat, I'll ask you guys...

What's the difference in Tru Trac and Locker?

Also, I'm looking to make this car a road track car, so I'm looking to be able to do some twisty roads with her.

Okay then tru trac it is for you then. It uses worm gears to lock the two wheels together. Very quiet with smooth operation, much like the stock diff, but no clutches to wear out.

Locker basically has blocks that lock into each other its the closest thing to a spool thats street friendly. Its said to be noisy going around corners as the blocks ratchet into place. Under torque the blocks will lock into each other which locks both wheels together and will release or ratchet when going around a turn.

agreed, 33 is a lot of spline to go with especially for a N/A car. I would say it's unnecessary. 31 is well more than enough for the power Shorty is playing with right now. There are plenty of cars on S197forum running in the 600-700hp range on 31 spline axles with no problem.

Okay thanks for the info. I've decided on this for next payday.

Detroit Tru-Trac Differential
Moser 31 Spline Axles
3.73 Gears

Last question, where's the best place to get everything installed while I'm gone? Thanks again guys for all of your help.

See sig 31 Spline Mosers,4.10,factory 31 spline cobra diff...
Restacked the factory type clutches for more pos traction...
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/rebuild_tractionlock.htm
There are 10 sec cars or better still running factory diffs...
31 spline is enough unless you have like 1000hp or something...
No additive when using synthetic gear oil...
It started out kinda feeling kinda like a spool...
The after a few hours of driving around it loosed up a little...
The Diff will switch from side to side in turns but when you hit it it is all pos...
