Well, the parts hunt is coming to a close. I just picked up the last of the dealership items i need, now im just waiting for garage space.
Im hoping with the '02 heads, Comp 274's, Intake, Long Tubes, UD Pullies and matching mid pipe, ill make over 260 HP, and over 300 TQ.
I spent all day last week on the phone with comp talking cams, and they say im good to go. Maybe with all this, a little suspension work, and some sticky tires, i can dip into 12's. Id be happy with a 12.999!
I wish i had the $$ to have the heads ported before i stuck em in, but i dont, so im not.
and for all you penny pinchers, this "big" of a mod can be done on a budget. I have been putting this together for about 8 months now. and heres my tally.
'02 Heads, Comp 274's, PI Intake, UD Pullies, ARP head studs : $800
Lokar Adj. Dipstick : $50
Stage 8 Locking header bolts : $50
LT's and matching x-pipe : $300
Gaskets : $240
Misc hoses and such: $60 all together from junkyard stangs.
Factor in 2 oil changes, 1 coolant change, and plugs : $200
and this is $1700 roughly for everything. If i would have bought a "package" like the parkway ford one, or similar, it would have been 2k +
easily.
Good things can be had for less, you just have to be willing to wait
Damn dude, your very patient!! Once I have my mind set on a mod, I look around for about a week, two tops and then I buy. I should search more often. Crystal is good at finding online coupons for stuff, I should take up after her too. _________________
well man, i was always taught by my parents to wait for what you want, because it'll come cheaper later. and the fact that i was in Iraq most of last year. But even still, most people come back from I raq, see that bank statement and get crazy.
when i got home i still waited for paydays to buy things, and didnt go over what i normally would have spent.
and as far as when ill do it, im trying to have it done before the wedding (Feb 28th) but i will need something to drive while the mustang is down, so thats a factor too, im hoping this can all be done in a weekend, but i dont wanna chance running into problems and extending the downtime, without me having anything to get to work in.

I think your hp #'s are low. I'm thinking closer to 300 using your stock shortblock maybe more. I've seen people around 260 with just the swap because your gonna raise compression to around 11:1. With good driving I can believe mid-high 12 sec times. Good luck.
SN95forums.com classifieds, some guy bought em new, then had to sell his car before he could put them on. he listed em for 500 bucks, and no one replied for like 2 days, so i just waited for his price to go down, 3 days later, 300 bucks.
and i dunno about 300 rwhp, i know it raises compressions and all, but i have a Automatic.
and like i said, im just hoping for the base swap numbers, anything over that is a plus for me.
and we'll have to see what taylor can pull out of his magic tuning hat on top of all the parts.
Greg any word on the install, did you find the garge space you needed? I wish I could lend you one of my rides but I don't have base stickers. _________________
well i have my garage in little washington, and its going to do down there, but my biggest roadblock right now is having a car while mine is down.
im planning for something to go wrong, and me not having it for a bit while im working.
if anyone here has a little beater with or without base stickers (i can get passes with Proof of insurance and the registration) i would be great if i could use it. because if the worst does happen, i going to have to drive from Cherry point to washington during the week to fix it.
